Crops
Overview

The Crops page is where you begin building your growing season in Heirloom. Your selections here will directly inform your Game Plan, Task Management, and other key areas of the software. This section functions as your digital seed catalog for the season.

Navigating the Crops Page

Upon entering the Crops page, you’ll see a grid of cards. Each card represents a different crop. The default view displays the “Vegetables” category.

Finding Your Crops: Search and Filter

  • Search Bar: Use the search bar at the top left to quickly locate a specific crop by name.
  • Crop Type Filter: To the right of the search bar, the “Crop types” dropdown allows you to filter by category: “Vegetables,” “Fruits,” “Flowers,” “Herbs,” or “Cover Crops.”
  • Sorting: The “Sort” option lets you arrange the displayed crops alphabetically (A-Z or Z-A).
Use the Search bar or filters to find specific crops for your planning.

Adding Crops to Your Season’s Plan

  • Selecting a Crop: Click on a crop card to add it to your season. A red checkmark will appear in the top right corner of the card, confirming your selection.
  • Selecting Cultivars: After selecting a crop, click on the “Select Cultivars” dropdown to choose specific varieties.
  • Add a new Crop: Clicking the “Add Crop” button allows you to select your cultivar in the next step.

You can select specific cultivars or add your own custom ones.

Removing Crops from Your Plan

To remove a previously selected crop, click the “Remove crop” button on the crop card.

What if my crop or cultivar isn’t listed?

If you can’t find your crop, you can create a custom one by clicking on the “+ Create Crop” button on the top right. More information on this feature is available in the article “Creating Custom Crops”.

If your crop is present but the desired cultivar is missing, add it by clicking on the “Select Cultivar” dropdown, then on “Add New Cultivar.” Refer to the article “Adding and Managing Cultivars” for further details.

Next Steps: Building Your Game Plan

After selecting all your crops, you’re ready to proceed to the Game Plan. Your chosen crops will be available in the Game Plan interface, where you can create a detailed, week-by-week schedule for your growing season.
