The crop information cards on the Crops page are your quick-reference guides to each crop you’ve selected for the season. They provide essential information at a glance and serve as a springboard to deeper functionalities within Heirloom. This tutorial will break down the elements of the crop card and explain how to use them effectively.
Understanding the Crop card
Each crop card contains several key elements:

- Crop Image: A visual representation of the crop.
- Crop Name: The common name of the crop (e.g., “Broccoli,” “Arugula,” “Beets”).
- Selected Cultivar: Displays the specific cultivar chosen from the dropdown menu. If no cultivar is selected, it will indicate “Select cultivars.”
- “Add Crop/Remove Crop” Button: This button allows you to add or remove the crop from your current season’s plan.
- Checkmark: A red checkmark in the upper right corner indicates that the crop has been added to your season.
- “Plantings in Progress” Overlay: If you have active plantings of this crop in your Game Plan, an overlay will display the number of plantings currently in progress, using a sprout icon.
- Edit Icon: A small pen icon next to the crop name allows you to edit the crop’s name, for instance, to add more specific details for your internal use.
Interpreting the Information - Selection Status: The red checkmark instantly tells you whether the crop is part of your current season’s plan.
- Cultivar Specificity: The displayed cultivar name indicates the specific variety you’ve chosen, which is crucial for accurate planning, as different cultivars can have different characteristics.
- Planting Progress: The “planting in progress” overlay provides a quick visual cue of your current growing activities. Clicking on the overlay will take you to the Game Plan, filtered to show only the plantings related to this specific crop.
