Game Plan
Overview

The Game Plan section of Heirloom is an essential tool for small-scale farmers looking to optimize their planting schedules and maximize productivity. This guide will walk you through the features and capabilities of the Game Plan interface, helping you plan your growing season with precision and ease.

Understanding the Game Plan Interface

The Game Plan interface is designed to give you a comprehensive view of your planting schedule for the entire season. The interface displays your crops and their corresponding planting timelines across the calendar months. It allows you to visualize, plan, and adjust your crops’ planting and harvesting schedules, ensuring you make the most out of every bed in your farm. Let’s walk through the key elements of this interface to help you get the most out of it.

Search Box

At the top left of the Game Plan interface, you’ll find the Search Box. This tool allows you to quickly locate specific crops by typing the first few letters of the crop name. As you type, the list below will dynamically filter to display only those crops that match your search query, saving you time and helping you navigate large planting schedules with ease.

Filters

Next to the search box are the Filters, which are crucial for narrowing down the display of crops and planting states. Here’s what you can do with filters:

  • Crop Types: Choose between Vegetables, Fruits, Flowers, Herbs, and Cover Crops. By default, the filter is set to “Vegetables.”
  • Planting States: Toggle between different planting states such as Planned, Nursery Sowed, Direct Sowed, Transplanted, Harvest in Progress, and Harvested. This helps in managing and viewing crops at various stages of their lifecycle.

Sort Options

The Sort Options menu allows you to organize your crops in a way that best suits your workflow:

  • By Crop: Sort alphabetically by crop name.
  • By Implantation Date: Sort crops based on their planting date.
  • By Nursery Date: Sort by the date the crops are scheduled to be moved from the nursery to the field.
  • By Harvest Date (Start/End): Sort by the start or end date of the harvest period.

Options Menu

The Options Menu provides additional visibility controls:

  • Show the Plantings State: Toggle to display or hide the state of each planting.
  • Show Previous/Next 6 Months: Expand or contract the timeline view to show the past or future six months of your planting schedule.
  • Show Light/Hard Frosts: Display frost dates to better plan your planting and harvesting times in relation to expected frost periods.

Used Space Selector

At the top right, the Used Space Selector allows you to switch between different locations where your crops are planted:

  • Field: Displays plantings assigned to field blocks.
  • Greenhouse: Shows plantings in greenhouse locations.
  • Hidden: Hides the selected area from view.

Scrolling

The Game Plan interface supports both horizontal and vertical scrolling:

  • Horizontal Scrolling allows you to move through the timeline, making it easy to view past, present, and future planting dates.
  • Vertical Scrolling lets you navigate through your list of crops, especially useful when managing many different crops and successions.
